THE FRANK METCALF SCHOLARSHIP

Candidates are drawn from the graduating classes of Hartford based Public High Schools. Over a four year period the scholarship provides a total of $5,000. Full-time attendance at an academic institution of the candidate’s choice is required. Students selected for a freshman scholarship award will continue to receive support through the three remaining undergraduate years, provided they continue to meet the eligibility requirements. Each scholarship recipient is assigned a sponsor who is a member of First Church and a member of the Metcalf Scholarship Committee. The sponsor maintains contact with the student to provide friendly encouragement. Winners of scholarship awards are determined based on the application and an interview with a sub-committee (consisting of at least three members) of the Metcalf Scholarship Committee.
