“I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.” —Matthew 25:36

Our goal is to minister to the physical, emotional, spiritual and prayer needs of those in our church family and community. We wish to reflect Christ’s love to all whom we serve, through the following teams:
80+ BIRTHDAYS — The members of this team have the pleasure of making birthday calls or visits to our members who are 80 and older, taking them cards, small gifts or flowers.
BEREAVEMENT — When a loved one dies and the church is contacted, we offer comfort and follow-up support and list the deceased member on the announcement board and in The Spire. We regularly offer GriefShare, a 13-week video series and support group for the bereaved.
BIRTHS — Whenever babies are born and the church is contacted, we list information on the announcement board and in The Spire.
FLORAL ARRANGING — New arrangements are made from the flowers used in worship or funeral services and are then distributed to those in need of encouragement.
HOLIDAY FLOWERS — Team members organize the distribution of Easter and Christmas plants by volunteers to the homebound, bereaved, and members in nearby nursing homes.
MERCY MEALS — Volunteers provide meals for those in transition (deaths, illnesses, births, etc.).
NAME TAGS — These people replenish and maintain the name tag rack for Sunday services and other occasions, encouraging fellowship among members.
PARISH NURSES — Blood pressure readings are taken the second Sunday of each month in the Caring Concerns Room. The nurses also provide occasional informational sessions on health-related issues.
PRAYER AND PRAISE CHAIN — These church members do a vital behind-the-scenes ministry by praying immediately for confidential requests that are phoned in or written on the blue prayer request form found in various locations in the church. Each week Caring Ministries also provides prayer request sheets of non-confidential needs for anyone to pick up and take home. Healing and Intercessory Prayer Ministries are also vital and active ministries at First Church.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY — Dedicated knitters pray as they knit shawls to give to those who are experiencing grief or health challenges. The shawls represent God's loving arms around them.
SUNDAY RECEPTIONISTS — Each team member sits at the reception desk during half of a Sunday morning, once a month, to act as a friendly, helpful greeter, answer the telephone, relay messages, and direct people.
TRANSPORTATION — Willing drivers provide rides for non-drivers to vital destinations (doctor, grocery store, church, etc.), using their own vehicle.
