Baptisms
This Sacrament is observed in obedience to Matthew 28:18-20 and primarily celebrates the grace and love of God in Christ Jesus. Because faith is also an important aspect of this Sacrament, whenever it involves children, parents or grandparents (at least one being a member of First Church) presenting such children for Baptism, they profess their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and promise, depending on the Grace of God, to raise their child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Also the congregation takes a vow during the Sacrament to support both the one being Baptized and their families. Therefore it is very important for Baptisms to take place in the context and relationship with First Church. We usually have Baptisms via anointing with water once a month throughout the year. (Special arrangements can be made for immersion.)
