A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DERYK

Are you searching for a church community that, beyond welcoming you, will give you a sense of truly belonging?

Here, at First Church, we believe you will find that community. We are disciples who cherish Jesus and crave for more of Him. We are a family that savors their time with one another. We are a group of friends who want to make a difference in our neighborhoods. We would love for you to join our community.

VISITING ON SUNDAYS

CHOOSE A SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE (Scroll down for photos) — Our TRADITIONAL WORSHIP SERVICES are held in the Meetinghouse at 8:30 and 10:00 a.m., and our WIND CONTEMPORARY SERVICE is held in Keith jones Hall at 10:00 a.m. Occasionally, the two services are combined into one. On your first visit, it's best to arrive about 15 minutes early, or 30 minutes early if you need time to find your children's classroom locations. For details on our services, click here. NOTE: There is no 8:30 service in the summer, usually starting on Father’s Day.

PARKING — Our parking lot is located at 250 Main Street and includes marked spots for seniors, those with disabilities, and visitors. We suggest arriving at least 15 minutes prior to the service time for easier parking. There is also ample parking in areas around the church.

COME ON IN! — The Cadwell Building serves as the main entrance from the parking lot. A receptionist is available to answer questions and guide you toward the Meetinghouse (traditional) or Keith Jones Hall (Wind contemporary), as well as locations for young people—Crib Room, childcare, Church School, and the middle school group. Maps of the church facility are also available at the Reception Desk.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE MET at the door? Simply call Marilyn Danielson in advance (during weekday office hours, except Fridays) at 860.529.1575 x213.

WORSHIP — Greeters will welcome you to the service, and ushers will give you a bulletin outlining the service and help you find a seat. Near the beginning, everyone is invited to greet one another; you will not be singled out as a visitor. Worship consists of prayer, music, a biblical sermon, and an offering. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month as well as during special services throughout the year.

LET US HELP YOU — Following each service, an opportunity for personal prayer is available in the Prayer Room (the former Chapel), the second room on the left as you enter the Marsh Building from the Connector. Members of our trained Prayer Team will meet you in a private, confidential manner and pray with you about a personal concern or to answer questions from the service. The ushers are located at the doors as you exit the worship service and can direct you.

STILL NOT SURE ABOUT VISITING?

We'd be happy to answer those questions that you still have. Please call or email Marilyn Danielson at the church at 860.529.1575 x213.

TRADITIONAL SERVICES

8:30 a.m., MeetinghouseThis traditional-style service consists of prayer and inspirational sermons and hymns, with organ. Unlike the later traditional service, there is no choir. Does not meet in summer.

10:00 a.m., Meetinghouse Like the earlier traditional service, this one offers prayer and inspirational sermons and hymns, but adds choirs and other instruments. Our worship is enriched by musical offerings presented on a rotating basis by our handbell choir, children's choir, youth choir, and brass ensemble, in addition to the First Church Choir. (During the summer, gifted singers and instrumentalists provide solos, duets, and small vocal ensembles to support worship.)

“wind” contemporary service

10:00 a.m., Keith Jones Hall — For those who prefer to worship in a more casual atmosphere, there is the Wind service. Worship begins with a contemporary worship band leading the congregation in song. Our pastors deliver the same inspiring messages as they do for the traditional services. Prayer time is open to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
